George William Blocksidge, Age 25

George had been born in Dawley but was living at Stoke Heath.

He was killed in action in the 18th April 1917 when an attack by A & C Companies had taken the old German front line at Cite-st Auguste 2 miles east/south-east of Loos; the 1st KSLI suffered 11 other ranks killed.

George is buried in the Dud Corner Cemetery at Loo's in Grave II.G.ll.

Notes: George’s parents were Joseph and Ann Maria (maiden name Lane), in 1891 they were living at Church road, Malinslee, George was born later that year and Christened at Malinslee on the 20th December 1891, on some documents his age is twenty but it was twenty-five.
